[Calculation Example Released] Interfacial Thermal Resistance Calculation at a Metal–Polymer Interface
We have published a new Matlantis application example on the calculation examples page. Interfacial thermal resistance (Kapitza resistance) at a metal–polymer junction is a key quantity in thermal design for semiconductor packaging and power electronics. In this case study, it is evaluated by non-equilibrium molecular dynamics using a PFP/MM scheme that couples Matlantis PFP with a classical force field, taking into account the chemical bonding at dissimilar-material interfaces that classical force fields alone struggle to describe. The interfacial thermal resistance calculated for Au/PMMA is of the same order of magnitude as the reported experimental value.
