On Matlantis' Fifth Anniversary

Innovative materials have supported and transformed our lives across every era. Matlantis set out in July 2021 with the goal of advancing the development of these materials through computational chemistry and helping build a more sustainable world. Today, we mark our fifth anniversary. More than 150 companies and research institutions now use Matlantis, and we are deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in us.

In 2021, we were the first to believe in the potential of a universal machine learning interatomic potential and bring it into real-world use. Today, it is steadily gaining recognition as a mainstream method in materials research. Customers have told us it has enabled sharper course corrections in R&D and led to tangible new materials. In light of these experiences, what we aim to achieve through Matlantis has come into sharper focus, and we are setting it as our new Vision:

AI is now advancing toward "Physical AI"—AI that engages directly with the physical world. What we have honed sits at that frontier: an AI that understands the invisible “atomic world” that ultimately determines the properties of every material. We observe phenomena at scales others cannot reach, and from that foundation we extend our insight to the problems and scales that matter. This is the source of our differentiation.

At the same time, an era of "AI for Science" has begun, in which AI agents take on the research process itself and accelerate discovery. As high-speed simulation takes on vast volumes of hypothesis testing, researchers can now iterate at a scale and pace never before possible. Yet the length and time scales that can be handled at the atomic level still face real limits. We will keep pushing against those limits, while broadening the range in which computation aligns with experiments and business realities and contributes to the decisions that matter.

Starting from our proprietary MLIP technology and extending through our service and the technical solutions we deliver alongside our customers, we are committed to supporting your R&D with the full breadth of our capabilities.
